24 HOUR COMIC DAY: 2018

I’ve known about 24-hour comic day since the late 90’s, but I unfortunately just starting doing it two years ago.  2016 and 2017 were such a good experiences that I’ve been looking forward to this all year.  Yeah it was that fun.

So in 2016 I used Manga Studio primarily and then in 2017 I went back to Photoshop with some new fancy brushes, and well…. this year I went back to Manga studio.  I think I chose it primarily for the textures and zipatones that I wanted to use, which felt like it was easier to use in Manga Studio.  Perhaps if this was color I would use Photoshop.

I keep saying that I will one year do it all traditional, but I’ve yet to do it that way.  I might though, because I do love playing with inks and brushes and that would be fun.

Overall it was another great time working and being creative.   This year I I started at 8:00am and finished around 7:00am, so I had an extra hour to go back and clean up a little, still there are some very rough pages, but that’s the way this experiment goes.  I listened to music all 24 hours, mostly my vinyl, everything from Michael Jackson, Doobie Brothers, tons of Beatles, Parliament, Hamilton, 3 Girl Talk albums, Radiohead, the list goes on.
